Joan K. Lippincott
 

Joan K. Lippincott is the Associate Executive Director of the Coalition for Networked Information (CNI), a joint program of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) and EDUCAUSE. CNI, based in Washington, DC, is an institutional membership organization that advances the transformative promise of networked information technology for the advancement of scholarly communication and the enrichment of intellectual productivity. She has been with CNI since 1990.

At CNI, Joan has provided leadership for programs in teaching and learning, assessment, learning spaces, and collaboration among professional groups. She is a widely published author and frequent conference speaker. She is chair of the Association of College & Research Libraries New Publications committee, past chair of the editorial board of College & Research Libraries News and is on the boards of portal and the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD). She serves on the Advisory Board of the Horizon Report, the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI) Seeking Evidence of Impact project, and the Academic Commons. She has served as a consultant to many academic libraries for their information/learning commons projects.
Joan previously held positions at the libraries of Cornell University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, and SUNY at Brockport. In addition, she worked at the Research and Policy Analysis Division of the American Council on Education and the National Center for Postsecondary Governance and Finance at the University of Maryland.
Joan received her Ph.D. in higher education policy, planning, and administration from the University of Maryland, her M.L.S. from SUNY Geneseo, and an A.B. from Vassar College. She also completed graduate work at George Washington University and Cornell University.

 

Daniel Ferraras
 

Daniel Ferreras is an associate professor of French, Spanish and Comparative Literatures at West Virginia University. His work on the Fantastic, the detective story, marginalized genres, and popular culture issues has appeared in French Literature Series, Hispania, Política, Lectura y signo, Excavatio and Popular Culture Review, and he´s the author of Lo fantastico en la literatura y en el cine (Vosa, 1996) and Cuentos de la mano izquierda (Silente, 1999).

A long-time advocate for open digital communication, he was the first faculty member from the WVU Department of Foreign Languages to direct a thesis under the electronic submission mandate nearly a decade ago and he is an active member of the Electronic Thesis and Dissertation / Institutional Repository Task Force, as well as a faculty spokesperson for the SPARC "Create Change" program. Dr. Ferreras has participated in several ETD conferences and seminars, providing a unique faculty perspective on fundamental issues concerning the digital library and the reception as well as the future of scholarly communications..

 

John Hagen
 

John H. Hagen is an independent consultant and owner of his consulting firm Renaissance Scholarly Communications, based in Morgantown, West Virginia, USA. Originally from Flint, Michigan, Hagen studied sociology at Michigan State University, where he launched his career at the MSU Libraries in 1987. Hagen´s extensive academic library background includes management the of Institutional Repository (IR) programs and coordination of the Electronic Thesis and Dissertation (ETD) program at the West Virginia University (WVU) Libraries from 1989 - 2011.

He was also Chair of the WVU ETD/IR Task Force, where he guided the development of program policies and procedures. In this capacity Hagen provided counsel on program implementation, scholarly communications and intellectual property issues at WVU and beyond. Hagen´s passion, dedication and leadership in national and international library networks provided the means for him to contribute his outreach and advocacy on open access in scholarly communications in the field.

Hagen presently serves on the Board of Directors for the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD), an international non-profit consortium of hundreds of universities (since 1998). He serves as Chair of the standing Conferences Committee, Co-Chair for the ETD Awards Committee and he serves on a variety of other NDLTD committees. In 2002 he founded the Appalachian Regional ETD Consortium to promote ETD program implementation in the mountain states. In 2006 he served as Co-chair to organize the first U.S. Regional ETD Conference held in St. Louis, MO. In 2007 he received the Ohio ETD Leadership Award from the Ohio ETD Association (OETDA). In 2009 he served as Co-chair for the NDLTD´s ETD 2009 International Symposium on ETDs, held at the University of Pittsburgh and co-sponsored by WVU. In 2009 Hagen also received the NDLTD´s International ETD Leadership Award. In addition, he presently serves as a founding member on the Board of Directors for the United States ETD Association (USETDA), a non-profit organization which promotes the adoption of state-wide ETD associations and support networks for libraries and graduate schools nationwide.

Hagen´s contributions to the area of ETDs, IRs and open access advocacy in scholarly communications have been published and cited extensively in trade journal articles, interviews and conference proceedings. He has also presented papers at a variety of digital library and information technology conferences over the past 15 years. He is an evangelist for the open access and social equality movements.

Félix de Moya y Anegón

 

Félix de Moya y Anegón holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy and Letters (Geography and History) by the University of Granada since 1992. Dr. De Moya is a professor / researcher at the CSIC-CCHS Department of Sciences and Innovation– Institute of Policies and Public Goods, and main researcher of the Associated Unit known as Grupo SCImago.


He has been Vice-President of Services at the Comunidad Universitaria, University of Granada (2000), and Vice-President of New Technologies, University of Granada (2004-2008).

In 1994-2000 he was Dean at the School of Library Science, University of Granada. He is the author of many books and research articles for scientific journals on Open Access, Bibliometrics and other subjects. See C.V.
